Miniot has released their latest cover for the iPad made of real wood from the company’s homeland of Holland. Dubbed the Mk2, or Mark Two, the cover uses a self-aligning magnetic hinge for easy handling and convenience. An ultrasuede microfiber lining protects your screen from scratches while the magnet array inside the cover automatically awakens and puts your device to sleep. » Miniot Releases New Wooden iPad Smart Cover

The second wave of new iPads has arrived. At 12 o’clock in the evening we were allowed to enter the Apple Premium Reseller here in the Netherlands. There were a little over one hundred people waiting in line, so not very American I guess. But I entered the store as the 21st customer and only 10 minutes later I left the building with my black, Wi-Fi, 32GB, third generation iPad. And will the smart cover work? How about the case, will it fit? Find out in the unboxing video I made, below.

It looks like these days iPad 3 parts are easy to find, multipe reports are hitting the web showing “possible” iPad 3 parts. Fix iPhones posted a photo of an iPad 3 rear shell which suggests minor physical changes and a larger battery. In the photo above you can see an comparison between the iPad 2 and iPad 3 rear shell “click here for larger version” which shows minor changes “with one of the most notable being an apparently narrower logic board that could make room for an expanded battery“. » Photos Of iPad 3 Rear Shell & Smart Cover Magnets Show Physical Changes

iPad 3 Case
According to the Japanese Website Macotakara, the picture above is a Case for the Next Generation iPad. They also claim that the next generation iPad will be thicker and therefore will not be compatible with all current iPad 2 cases. They believe that the front screen will be the same as the other iPads, with the same types of corners and bezel as well. I am very sceptic about this rumor, what do you guys think.

iPad Smart Cover
Apple revised its lineup of magnetic Smart Covers for the iPad 2, adding a lovely dark gray (and “color-matched fiber lining”) while discontinuing the orange polyurethane version, among other changes. Alle colors of the cases has been changed a little bit as you can see in the comparison after the break, but the prices did not change. » Apple Updates iPad 2 Smart Covers With Color Changes

Ever wondered how easily your iPad 2 glass would break with the smart cover on? SquareTrade has posted a drop test video using two iPads. We bought two brand-new iPads and equipped one with Apple’s smart cover and one without. We did some drop tests from waist and shoulder height to see if Apple’s smart cover can protect your iPad. Take a look at the video after the break to see the results. » iPad 2 Smart Cover Drop Test
