After Tim Cook apologized in an open letter for Apple’s new iOS 6 Maps App and suggested other Map alternatives including webbased Google Maps and Nokia Maps, Apple has also added a new featured section to the App Store highlighting some other “free and paid” map alternatives. This section includes map apps such as RoadMate USA, Waze, Mapquest, Garmin, Bing, and MotionX. Tim Cook “Apple’s CEO” has published an letter to customers to apologize for the new Apple-powered Maps app in iOS 6. Apple replaced Google Maps with their own Apple Maps in iOS 6 but “most” people prefer Google Maps over Apple Maps, Tim Cook wrote in the letter that Apple is “sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers” and even told its customers to use alternative Map apps “like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps” while Apple is improving Maps.
