Apple did fix the iOS 6 Maps error, but today CNET Australia posted some photos of a new Samsung Galaxy S III display on George Street in Sydney saying “Oops, should have got a Samsung Galaxy S III. Sony, the Japanese giant is planning to create a handset that will compete with the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Sony’s “killer phone” is officially due early next year, but do people really care? Sony’s new mobile head Dennis Van Schie said that Sony “will create, in the near future, a flagship model that can compete with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III”. Strategy Analytics released a report estimating that Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone overtook the iPhone 4S for the top spot in global shipments in Q3 of 2012. “Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone model shipped 18.0 million units worldwide during the third quarter of 2012. Samsung today launched a smaller version of its Galaxy S III handset, called Galaxy S III Mini and comes with a 4-inch screen just like the iPhone 5. In their press release they note “The GALAXY S III mini brings the high performance, intuitive ease-of-use and nature-inspired design of the GALAXY S III to an elegant, compact smartphone with a 4.0-inch screen. It can be an optimal choice for consumers who are looking for more practical smartphones.” The Mini is 121.55mm long, 63mm wide and 9.85 thin, weighing in at 111.5g. PrimadeLabs posted the first iPhone 5 benchmark from Geekbench showing an iPhone5,2 device running iOS 6 with a Dual-Core 1.02GHz ARMv7 processor and 1GB of RAM. The total performance score of the “iphone 5,2” model is 1601, while the average score for the iPhone 4S is 629 and the average score for the iPad 3 is 766. and Businessinsider have published a new print ad that Samsung will be running in national newspapers today. “And so Samsung is greeting the arrival of the iPhone 5 with an ad that will run tomorrow in certain national and local newspapers (how modern). It is not a flattering ad. Samsung just announced the Galaxy S III at the Unpacked event today in London, and it will be launched in Europe at the end of this month. Samsung is Apples biggest competitor in the Smartphone space.  The Galaxy is upgraded with a 4.8-inch 720P SuperAMOLED display and weights 133 grams. Some interesting features are S Voice (which is like Siri), Scan and Match for Music (which is like iTunes Match) and Airplay-like “AllShare Cast” adapter for streaming your content to your HDTV.
