A new week, a new rumor..
Now the rumor states that the 3G iPhone will be released without contract.
La repubblica (Italian Wall street journal) has written an artical where they confirm that Telecom Italia will receive the 3G iPhone really shortly without a long-term exclusivity and without a revenue model (like Apple has with AT&T).

We already heared some rumors that the iPhone 3G will include a GPS chip, but for all of us who have the current version, there’s a cable almost ready.

The cable will make it possible to connect a Holux GPS to your iPhone via serial cable, imagine all the possibilities with your iPhone gps enabled :)

You can preorder it on this site.

A example of how it will work:

According to several posts on the hackint0sh forum, the chipset that will support the 3G iPhone will be the PMB8878 or better known as the S-GOLD3H.
The current version of the iPhone is powered by the S-GOLD2 chipset, so we might have found the chip that will power the next iPhone.
But maybe apple is planning to use another chipset, we will not know this until final release !

Ipodobserver claims to have a new picture of the iPhone 3G.

I don’t think this is Legit, but we never know :)

If iPodObserver.coms source is correct, the redesigned iPhone back also drops the black plastic end piece that covers the antenna, and it appears that Apple will continue to offer an 8GB model.

Of course, rumors are just rumors until Steve Jobs pulls a new iPhone out of his pocket. If the image proves to be legit, however, the glossy black finish will make a nice addition to the up-and-coming executive’s tech stash.

Gizmodo posted on an interesting topic that came up during a lunch with AT&T’s Mobility CEO, Ralph de la Vega, regarding the iPhone and 3G support.
He said that AT&T expected to have all of the smartphones on their network integrated with 3G. PC Mag’s Sascha Segan asked whether or not this would include iPhones, that’s when Vega said, “Let me repeat what I said: I think that you’re going to see our integrated devices be 3G devices in the not-too-distant future, and I mean months. That should be clear enough.”

It’s still a rumor, but togheter with the iPhone shortages in some stores, it may seem that we will see the 3G iPhone sooner than June 2008.

The following news just got posted on Macrumors.com.
Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney claims to have heard “from sources in Asia” that Apple has placed a 10 million unit order for 3G iPhones, according to an interview by the iPod Observer.
This order for 10 million 3G iPhones would reportedly be above and beyond the original 10 million Apple had planned to sell of the initial version of the iPhone in 2008.
