Rip-Dev published on their blog a list of improvements made to the latest version of Installer. Personally I think that they are coming way too late with these updates. As Installer was quit inactive for a long time and since the arrival of Cydia, I’m not shure that a lot of people will still use it. I got also some feedback from users that this beta version is still causing a lot of issues (bugs, slowness, restart of the iPhone etc.)

The guys from iPhoneHellas claims that the iPhone 2.2 firmware will become available on November 21st based on what they describe as a “reliable” source. iPhone developer Return 7 has difficulties to bring out an updated version of CastCatcher to the App Store. Apple rejected the update because the radio app is using too much bandwith in comparison with other radio apps. The old version remain available through the App store.

9to5Mac’s launched the rumor that Sony BMG will soon become the second major label to get on board with Apple by offering their music catalog in iTunes Plus format.

German iPhone news blog iphone-ticker.de, found out that Apple has been doing some work on side of their iTunes Store servers and expects the release of the next iPhone OS version during the next five days.

SquareTrade analyzed cell phone failure rates for more than 15,000 new phones covered by SquareTrade Care Plans and found iPhone handsets had substantially fewer failures than BlackBerry and Treo handsets within the first year of ownership.
