A reader of Gizmodo said he replaced his iPhone 4 because of the signal issue and the proximity sensor issue. When he received his new iPhone 4 he noticed some differences between his new iPhone 4 and his first iPhone 4. He noticed that the “black [plastic] bezel isn’t as black on the new one”, he “couldn’t see the proximity sensor at all on the previous iPhone 4, now he can” and “The stainless steel band on the new phone is less ‘steel-y’ and more matte” it looks like they added a coated of some kind. He decided to try out the death grip and said there is certainly some huge improvement. So what does this mean? Is this guy just loosing his mind, because he has a working iPhone 4 now, or is Apple silently replacing the iPhone 4 with a new “improved” second edition. » Is Apple Silently Replacing The iPhone 4 With An Upgraded Version?
We just told you that PlanetBeing successfully unlocked the iPhone 4. Today he uploaded a movie to YouTube where he is showing the unlocked device and explains how they managed to unlock it. They are still working on improving the unlock because now it still takes 5 minutes to unlock a device. You also need a jailbroken iDevice before you can unlock, so we also need to wait for iOS 4 jailbreak but at this point Comex is working on a jailbreak for iOS4. At least we now know it is possible to jailbreak and unlock iOS4 and the iPhone 4, we just have to wait for the public release.
Yesterday Consumer Reports tested 3 iPhone 4s, and they can’t recommend the iPhone 4 because of the reception problems and death grip. They advice you to buy the iPhone 3GS instead. People started talking about it and where asking questions on the Apple forum but Apple didn’t like the negative advice and decided to delete “at least” 6 topics about the Consumer Reports. Apple doesn’t delete other topics about the reception problems, but if the topic is related to Consumer Reports they will delete it. Because of Apples behaviour people actually started talking about it even more. People also think Apple can’t handle hearing the truth and criticism, and starts ignoring us. Deleting topics actually looks bad for Apple costumer support service. » Apple Deletes Consumer Reports Threads

Cases, some iPhone users like it and some don’t. One thing is for sure, if you want a case the case needs to be thin. SwitchEasy Nude is a 1mm Ultra Thin case and is still pretty solid. Its made of Super Strong GE Lexan® polycarbonate material, and covers the whole iPhone. It is available in 8 different colours including transparent. For €19,99 you will get the 1mm Nude Case, two anti-static Screen Guards, one Microfiber Wipe, one Squeegee for your Screen Guard application, two Headphone Jack Protectors and two 30 Pin Connector Protectors. That’s a fair price for what you get.
iChatr is a new application for the iPhone 4, its just like chat-roulette on the pc. It uses the front facing camera of the iPhone 4 to video-chat with random people all over the web. It’s the same as FaceTime and works over Wi-Fi, if you would like to chat with an other person simple swipe your finger across the screen and you will be connected to the next iChatr user. Do you think iChatr will be a hit or one big flop? One thing is for sure, you will probably see some weird people on iChatr just like you see on chat-roulette on the pc. iChatr can be downloaded for free here.
George Hotz aka GeoHot just announced on his blog that he just jailbroke the iPhone 4. But before you get all excited, GeoHot said “As far as a release goes, it probably won’t happen from me”. But later on his blogpost he wrote “please don’t ask for release dates. Every person that does makes me want to release a little bit less.”. So it looks like he has some plans on releasing limera1n, but we probably have to wait a little longer. We will keep you updated.
