Siri is how Apple persuades consumers to buy the iPhone 4S, and in iOS 6, the voice assistant promises to get a whole lot better. But before the new and improved Siri arrives, Google is unleashing an upgrade to its search that, well, blows Apple’s tech right out of the water. Swedish designer Anders Kjellberg has developed a stylish concept design for Apple’s eagerly anticipated iWatch.

Kjellberg’s design features an iWatch with FaceTime capabilities; it has an 8-megapixel camera built into the face of the watch that is also able to record videos in HD.

The watch will be equipped with a ‘Retina Multi-Touch display’, allowing users to switch between the time, iTunes, Google Maps and other apps that are available on the iPhone and iPod Touch. It will also feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities—allowing users to stream music to their headphones.

Although this is only a concept design, it definitely looks like something that Apple might produce. Only time will tell. » iWatch Concept With Retina Multi-Touch Display & More [Pictures]

After years of dominating the competitive mobile phone market, Nokia has been ousted as the world’s biggest mobile phone maker by Korean electronics giant, Samsung.  In the first quarter of 2012, Samsung shipped around 93 million mobile phones, compared to Nokia’s 83 million.  Samsung, which is also now the world’s biggest television and flat screen maker, recently announced its highest quarterly profit since 2008, a jump of 81% from last year.  Strong sales growth is forecast in the coming months.  Robert Yi, head of investor relations at Samsung, said: “We cautiously expect our earnings momentum to continue going forward, as competitiveness in our major businesses is enhanced.”

So how has Samsung seized the top spot from Nokia, which monopolised the mobile market for 14 years?  The key may lie in savvy strategic vision and direction from the management.  Both Kwon Oh-hyun, former head of the firm’s component business and now chief executive officer and former chief executive Choi Gee-sung, have been credited with shifting the company’s fortunes. » How Samsung Became The Biggest Name In Mobile Phones

Microsoft’s major announcement has just been unveiled at a press event in Los Angeles: a Surface tablet. This looks like real competition for the iPad if you ask me. “Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky took to the stage to describe the hardware of Microsoft’s Surface tablet. There will be two options for Microsoft’s Surface PC, one powered by Intel’s 22nm Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8, and another Surface powered by an ARM chipset and Windows RT. The Windows RT version is just 9.3mm thin, weighs 1.5lbs, includes a built-in kickstand, and is the first PC with a vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case, according to Microsoft. It will ship in 32GB or 64GB versions, complete with a 10.6-inch ClearType HD display.” More info and teaser video after the break. » 10.6-inch Microsoft Surface Tablets “With Windows 8” Announced

Gizmodo is a good sport and now features his work on a white iPhone mockup, which looks pretty darn good to our eyes.
