Review Wondershare Filmora: Easy to Use Video-editor With Lots of Extra’s
People that are interested in video-editing or people that just enjoy creating a short montage of their latest holiday, have a lot of choices between different video-editors. Some of these editors are free to use, but lack the diversity in features, while others are way too expensive for the average consumer. Today we take a look at Wondershare Filmora, an editing-tool with lots of features that offers a free and a paid version.
What is Wondershare Filmora
Two of the main reasons people choose for a specific editing-tool are de price and the complexity of the software. Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas offer a lot functions and are great for professional editors, but you have to pay a lot to use these tools and beginners might find these tools to complicated. That is why a lot of people are interested in tools such as Wondershare Filmora. Filmora can be used for free on Windows and Mac, but exported video’s will contain a watermark. To remove the watermark and to get tech support you pay a one-time fee of just $59,99 (or 44,99 per year). This is way cheaper than most other known editing-tools.
Functions
So, other than the attractive pricetag, why should you choose Filmora? Well Filmora is built to be easy. The first time you open Filmora, you will notice everything will speak for itself. All you have to do is select the aspect ratio for your video and click “Create new project”. After you created your first project you can import videos and drag them onto your timeline. This is all straightforward. What makes Filmora even better are the preset filters, transitions, elements, ready to use music, sound effects and credits. You can also download packs with new titles, songs and other effects. Even a complete beginner can learn to use Filmora in no-time.
All you have to do is drag a filter or transition over the videos in your time-line and Filmora will apply the effects for you. It also gives you control of how fast/big/strong these effects have to be. Using a lot of effects in video-editing tools might slow down the preview of the video, but just like with tools such as Premiere, you can hit the “render” button to pre-render your videos so you can smoothly preview your current project.
We even found some functions that are a lot easier to use in Filmora than in other, more expensive, video editing- tools. You can for example use split-screens, which allows you to create video-collages with multiple videos playing at the same time next to each other. Creating these kinds of shots can be time-consuming when using other editing- tools, but Filmora makes it extremely simple. Just drag in the videos, adjust the size of each video and click ok.
Conclusion
During my test I was surprised how easy Filmora is to use. I was also surprised with the speed of the software and the number of filters, transitions, effects and songs that come with the software. On top of that, Filmora is completely free to use, so there is nothing that should stop you from trying it out yourself. If you like it you only have to pay a one-time fee of $59,99, which gives you lifetime access to the software.
