It is official, Apple started sending out invitations for its September 12 Media Event where they will announce the iPhone 5. If you take a look at the shadow in the picture above you will clearly see a “5”, suggesting that Apple’s next iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5. The media event is scheduled for next week Wednesday, September 12. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern. The tagline on the invitation is simply “It’s almost here.”

Other things we may see in Apple´s September 12 Media Event is a preview of iOS 6 and a possible update of Apple’s iPod lineup. The rumored iPad Mini will most likely be announced in a second Media Event.
