apple_logo_grayApple has asked iPhone developers to add keywords to their applications. The developers can use 255 characters seperated by comma’s. Those keywords will be used with the search operations in the App Store from an iPhone and iPod Touch. The developers have to fill in the keywords as quickly as possible via iTunes Connect, to make sure the apps will stay findable.

It’s interesting to see if Apple is going to check on smart keywords. Many developers have discovered that they are easier to find in the App Store if they use names of competitive products or terms who don’t have anything to do with app itself. For example: “Micheal Jackson” with a puzzlegame.

Note: Although Apple says users can use up to 255 characters, the actual limit appears to be only 100.
