Apple has released a beta version of iPhone OS 2.1 to developers. Along with the 2.1 firmware, a new version of the iPhone SDK has been seeded as well, but the new SDK can’t be used for submitting applications to the App Store at the moment.
A few new things we are seeing in this version of the software is the addition of a bunch of Core Location features that track the direction you are heading, and the speed you are traveling. Looks like we might see a turn-by-turn GPS app after all on the iPhone 3G.

Turn by turn is what I was upset about when trying it out. I love the app, but it definatly needs that. Go Apple!

Please fix all the annoying bugs like crashing and random restarts on this version, and make the UI more flawless when scrolling. PLS. and then jailbreak 2.1 in a matter of days.

go buy another phone if you’re that disappointed. this seems to be a common theme, very love/hate.
if you didn’t like the fact that it doesn’t have MMS and bought it anyway for the other badass features you do not get to bitch about the one missing feature. it’s that simple. the fact that you’re that angry over a missing feature on a phone tells me you really love the phone but it’s like a knife in your side that you have to email photos instead of messaging them.

has anyone here ever built/downloaded/whatever you have to do to get the open toolchain thing to develop apps for the iphone? is it hard? cuz ive been trying to find a download but it seems its sumthing you have to do yourself.. any tips?

Hello retards. MMS messaging is old technology. iphone sends pics over email. get an email account and you have f*ing MMS. the rest of the planet needs to catch up and get a damn phone with email picture messaging.
