A couple of days ago Xpgs 1.2 was finally released in Cydia. A lot of new features have been added. Most of them have been posted previously. One thing which hasn’t been mentioned is a new way to create itinerary called Routes managerĀ. Using this function you can compute and save routes for offline use. It let you choose places and addresses as starting and ending point. Please notice that there is currently no support for routes with more than one starting and one ending points. It’s due to a Google limitation and we are working on it.

The blog page of the XGPS project has announced that their GPS hardware is ready. The hardware they are using is a Sirf III 20 channels GPS module from USBLOBALSAT and the PIC18F25J10 chip. According to the developers it’s working perfectly and best of all, it hardly uses any power from your iPhone or iPod GPS.

I found a new program in development during my daily internet searches.
It’s called XGps, and the website reveals the app as a Open GPS hardware and software solution for iPhone and iPod touch.
For the moment there’s only 1 screenshot and some very little information on the webiste.
I will keep watching this and will report back to you when there’s more information.
One thing that bothers me though is the fact that the latest update is from late april.. only one month ago..
