Apple has just announced that the iPhone 5 will be available in South Korea on Friday, December 7, with more than 50 additional countries being added in December, including Brazil, Russia and Taiwan. Apple just released a press release that confirms that the new iPad will launch in 12 additional countries this Friday, April 20. The press release also confirmed that Apple will launch the new iPad in 9 more international counties on April 27.
In addition to South Korea, the new iPad also will be available beginning on Friday, April 20 in Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay and Venezuela. Beginning on Friday, April 27, the new iPad will be available in Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa and Thailand.

For nearly two years the game category in Korea had been blocked due to concerns from the Game Ratings Board about the content rating of games. But now it has finally been added to Koreas App Store. The block was an obstacle for many game developers and some even claimed that the government was holding back the game industry in a nation of gamers. Now that the category is open, competition is expected to heat up between mobile game developers, some who had already started preparing their products for the new market on news of the upcoming change.

KT Corporation announced this week that the iPhone has sold more than 1 million units in South Korea, excluding the iPhone 4. It took 9 months to sell and activate 1.02 million iPhones as of Aug. 16 and KT Corporation expect to sell 1.2 million in early October.
