cydia-logo With a first generation iPhone or an iPhone 3G, you only have 128 MB of memory. The iPhone’s internet browser Safari  takes up a big portion of that memory. And that portion keeps growing if you open up more pages. If you have a jailbroken  device you can force apps to close via SBSettings. But wouldn’t it be handy to close Safari automatically after you press the  homebutton? Cydia has an answer.

readermac1I’m not sure how many people are aware of the local RSS feed reader in Safari on the iPhone/iPod touch. This service sort of lags from the old. Mac service, and I have no idea why Apple has not yet updated it to reflect and integrate with the MobileMe service.

Back on 1.1.4, there was an application called AdBlock that disabled the ads in the iPhone’s Safari browser. This greatly reduced the time it took Safari to render web pages, especially in a situation without wifi. Well, AdBlock still isn’t ported to 2.0, but there is another way to manually disable ads in Safari. It requires SSH or USB access to your phone’s filesystem, but is pretty easy.
