iFixit received an “iPad 3 display”, and they took a good hard look at it, and nailed down some specifics: the display resolution (as rumored) looks to be 2048×1536, and there are subtle differences in the style of connector and placement of the retaining clips. Whether or not you consider this a true “retina display,” it is hard to argue that the pixel-density of the “iPad 3” beats the heck out of everything else on the market. Steve Jobs told during the WWDC10 Keynote that the Retina display mounted on the iPhone 4 is just superior. Samsung, the world’s biggest display maker does not agree on that. According to Samsung the retina display on the iPhone 4 is only 3 to 5 percent sharper than the AMOLED screen on the Samsung phone Galaxy S, that’s only a little bit sharper while the Retina display uses 30 percent more power.
