The TomTom car kit showed up in the Apple Store. The price is €99,95 / £99,95 and comes with the holder, adhesive disk and documentation. No software is included.
A Swedish website showed a YouTube video about the TomTom Carkit. It’s a hands-on video that gives you an impression of how the carkit looks like. From the looks of it, it works very smooth. The iPhone clicks in real easy and you can easily switch to landscape mode and back. It turns 360 degrees, so you can’t really force the movement.
Still searching for the right GPS navigation application? There’s a lot of choice: TomTom, Navigon, iGo and probably more. But maybe Sygic is the app you need. It reduced the European price to €59,99. And a new update came in that polished the app nicely. There seems to be no lag anymore.
Navigon had an update last week and introduced text-to-speech and iPod controls. They have a new feature for their iPhone application: real-time, crowd-sourced traffic. But they will ask 25 dollars for it.
