Downgrading & unlocking iPhone OS 3.0 is possible!
Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 Beta pre-installation advisory document states that once you’ve updated a device it will be in a locked stateĀ with no way of going back to an earlier firmware. Well Ralf Rottmann has tried after restoring Beta 3.0 to downgrade his 2G iPhone back to 2.0.

Dev Team: Jailbreak Firmware 3.0 is possible
Only 1 day after the presentation of Apple, The iPhone Dev Team confirmed that you can jailbreak Firmware 3.0. However, those using 3G yellowsn0w are facing some restraints, as their baseband will be modified, the team advises these users to wait for PwnageTool to create a custom IPSW that avoids the baseband update. The 24kpwn LLB patch, aka Untethered iPod Touch 2G jailbreak has been releasedy by MuscleNerd. MuscleNerd calls it the 24Kpwn LBB patch. What’s the difference with the untethered jailbreak? When you have applied this patch you will no longer have to have a pc nearby when you would like to jailbreak your device.

A new article has rised on the website of the EFF where Apple claims that iPhone jailbreaking is illegal (in the US). Apple’s iPhone, now the best-selling cellular phone in the U.S., has been designed with restrictions that prevent owners from running applications obtained from sources other than Apple’s own iTunes App Store. “Jailbreaking” is the term used for removing these restrictions, thereby liberating your phone from Apple’s software “jail. Apple states that opening the iPhone to independently created applications will compromise safety, security, reliability, and swing the doors wide for those who want to run pirated software.
