A new application is now available in Cydia called Backgrounder, which leaves applications running even after you hit the home button. Traditionally, the iPhone will terminate an application after the home button is depressed to return to the home screen. Backgrounder, as the name implies, lets applications run in the background allowing you to return to them in the future. This ability is great for applications such as MobileCase for downloading podcasts in the background while you surf Safari or check Mail, or for instant messaging applications to continue to run like BeeJive. The downside is that your battery life will be quickly depleted.

After quite some time Apple finally decided to lift the iPhone developers NDA. This is great news and I’m pretty sure that due to the lifting of this NDA, some developer will be more then happy to teach other people how to code for the iPhone or iPod Touch. Torrent Relay released a private beta of iTR. iTR will allow you to download torrents straight to your iPhone or iPod Touch and it will allow you to directly play the media you downloaded!. It’s even is possible to take a torrent-url from your desktop pc/mac onto your iPhone! iTR will continue to download your torrent while you are on the go. However as the app is webbased, i prefer to hold off untill we see a decent native torrent client.

Some reports are coming in from users that are trying to update their Apps in iTunes 8.0 with a iPod Touch that it’s simply not working. Users are getting error 5002 (Unknown Error). The solution to this problem is quite easy. It’s in fact not a solution but more a workaround.
