Why is the media focusing on Apple and not questioning any of the other electronics companies that manufacture with Foxconn in China? “Obviously, Apple has the money, the brand, the prestige, and it grabs attention. However, it is not like Apple can make gold from straw. Apple simply cannot build its products anywhere other than China.

But @NicePaul takes recent Forbes numbers and created the following infographic that illustrates the opposite point. Check the infographic after the break. » CBS Probes Apples Relationship With Foxconn

9to5mac received word from a reliable source at Foxconn in China “that indicated last summer that the iPhone 5 was not happening, and that Apple was building the iPhone 4S model instead”, and they are now saying that the iPhone 5 is now gearing for production. “The source said various sample devices are also floating around (they vary slightly from one another), so it is impossible to tell which one will be the final.” Check after the break for more details. » Next iPhone Ready For Production Launched This Summer [rumor]

The NY Times just published an article on Apple and why it builds almost all of its stuff in China. Years ago, the Chinese government subsidized building cities of factories that can hire 3,000 workers to live in a dorm in a day —or 8,700 Industrial Engineers in two weeks (it would take 9 months in the U.S.).  Todays gadgets require thousands of little parts that are all made in the same areas.  This whole global supply chain cannot be moved to the U.S. An interesting read about the last minute decision to make the iPhones display glass and more can be found after the break: » Why Apple Builds The iPhone In China

iPhone Made In Brazil
Apple already tried to make iPhone 4 models in the new Brazilian Foxconn plant, but we never seen any iPhone with “Designed by Apple in California, Made in Brazil” engraved into the back of a iPhone 4. Now thanks to the Brazilian website MacMagazine it looks like we have our first look of such a model in hands of the first customers. It is not confirmed but it says that a reader has gotten their hands on an 8GB white iPhone 4 with “Brazilian Industry” written on the back instead of “Made In China”. » First Brazilian Built iPhones In Customers Hands

Foxconn “the company that provides Apple parts” has opened a branch in Brazil some time ago, and the Brazilian brothers of Gizmodo sneaked inside to take some pictures of the upcoming iPhone that will be announced tomorrow. The pictures they took look very similar to the iPhone 4, but if you look closer you see a different model number, N90A. If this is the real deal it can indicate that this is a cheaper version of the iPhone 4, or Apple will announce the iPhone 4S instead of the iPhone 5. If Apple will announce the iPhone 4S it will be very disappointing, since we waited 1,5 year for the new iPhone. We will find out tomorrow. Check out the pictures after the break. » Cheaper iPhone 4 (N90A) Found In Brazil
