Recommended method for updating is Sparkle (the internal updater inside PwnageTool) or using the Finder to decompress the files, don’t use command line tools to decompress as incorrect use will not preserve permissions, just double click the download above in the Finder.

The iPhone-dev team released a update on their blog, announcing that the new PwnageTool will be released later today. Version 2.0.2 will allow you to pwn your iPhone + iPod Touch firmware 2.0.1. However the team does warn you not to upgrade your iPhone 3G as of now as the new firmware changes the bl and could make your iPhone 3G unlockable in the future. Read the full post after the break.

The iPhone Dev-Team updated their blog with the message to NOT upgrade to the latest iPhone firmware 2.0.1 just yet. They are in the process of updating the PwnageTool so we can use the new firmware. Full Blog-post after the break.

iPhone firmware 2.0.1 has finally been released. You can update your iPhone via iTunes. Hopefully this resolves our major problems we have with crashing applications and other bugs. The firmware does promises to fix some bugs, but a list has not yet been published.

According to The BoyGeniusReport firmare 2.0.1 is aleady being tested by Apple and AT&T since before the launch of the iPhone 3G. They claim this by a screenshot of their logs, where they show off the following references (It appears that AT&T and Apple are testing iPhone device software version 2.0.1, builds 5B101 (iPhone) and 5B103 (iPhone 3G).)
