Apple is starting an App Store Beta program that will allow developers to test their applications before
they release them in the App Store for everyone to download. This will greatly decrease the number of bugs and complaints on new applications. An article excerpt inside.
An article on TechCrunch said this:
“Now we’re hearing from an app developer that Apple has released an Ad-Hoc program. Details are slim, but it seems like Apple is capping the total number of beta participants at 100 per app. In order to download a beta app, users will need to submit their iPhone’s UDIDs number to the developer. The apps will be directly distributed by the developer.”

Let’s hope this works out. If it does, I think we should see new applications in the App Store with far less bugs than we have been seeing.

Nice! Any changes in the price/processing time ?
Or are they going to continue their detailed testing of apps for months…..!
Jash, I’m not sure if this will reduce the processing time, although it would be very nice if it did. But I think the prices would most likely stay the same.
This is not something new. The article is referring to the Ad Hoc distribution that Steve Jobs mentioned in his key note. IT allows developers to publish applications to (up to) 100 devices. Logically, a lot of developers will use it as a beta testing tool.
