We all know that MobileMe wasn’t one of Apple’s success stories.  In the last month the service has been more degraded than fully running. Apple agrees with this and gives all of it’s users 60 extra days for free. Read the official e-mail communication after the break.

After some trail and error it appears that you can easily QuickPwn the newest firmware 2.0.2. To accomplish this all you have to do is upgrade to firmware 2.0.2 from within iTunes and then start the QuickPwn application. Make sure the firmware you have in the QuickPwn directory is firmware 2.0.1!

Well Apple has released the iPhone firmware update version 2.0.2. This update only includes bug fixes. This firmware version will not be compatible with PwnageTool or WinPwn; It is also not compatible with QuickPwn. The iPhone DevTeam formally announces the availability of “QuickPwn”. This tool is the proof of concept tool to demonstrate the “QuickPwning” of devices without the need for an iTunes based restore. This tool is best suited for users who do not need a custom firmware with specific custom features. For casual users the tool is more convenient as you do not need to make a full new IPSW and use iTunes with it, but the end result is that your device is Pwned and jailbroken.

Zibri, the creator of the popular jailbreak + unlock application for the first iPhone announced on his blog that he’s working on a new version of Ziphone. Apple has seeded the iPhone 2.1 firmware beta 4 to those four thousand lucky individuals. Apple has simply once again marked this as “bug fixes”. What is new is that Apple has removed the push notification service “for further development”. The push notification service has been included since the first beta release and is expected to have a public release in September.

All of us remember the Safari Download Plugin from the 1.1.4 firmware. This plugin allowed you to download supported files directly to your iPhone or iPod Touch from the internet. These files could then be taken off, or manipulated in other ways.
