I LOVE having apps available to me now but i HATE my iPhone now... ever since upgrading to 2.02 my iPhone "stalls" for a few seconds (5-10) whenever i want to do anything. My company IT was not willng to set up MS Exchange for me, and I needed to get my contacts and calendar on my iphone. I sort of worked backwards, beginning with the notion that Nuevasync works well to sync Google calendars to the iphone with no extra software to install. Here is what I did: 1. I opened a Funambol account. 2. I opened a Scheduleworld account - Scheduleworld uses the Funambol service. 3. I downloaded and installed the latest Funambol Outlook plug-in on my work Outlook. 4. I configured the Funambol Outlook plug-in to sync with the Schedulelworld server (Contacts and Calendar) - instructions on how to do this on Scheduleworld Wiki 5. I configured Scheduleworld to sync with my Google Calendar (note: I think it might be best to delete the calendar or start a new one for this step, I had a lot of dupes on first sync - ALSO, google contacts does not offer all of the Outlook fields on contacts, so don't sync the contacts to google - more on contacts later) 6. I opened a Nuevasync account to sync with the Google calandar. 7. I downloaded Synthesis syncML from the App Store, and configured it to sync with the Scheduleworld server for Contacts ONLY - does not support calendar). So, when I get to work, I run the sync on the Funambol plug-in on Outlook and VOILA - all my calendar items appear in my iphone. I run the Synthesis syncML on my iphone, and all my work Outlook contacts appear in my phone. Added calendar items on the phone appear in Outlook after I run the Funambol sync. Contacts from the iphone appear on Outlook after syncml sync and Funambol sync. I know it looks tedious, but this is great for me - no IT involvement from my company, and no unathorized installation on my phone. Once you get through all the configs, it works great. For email, I am using Synchronica.
