How to rip Blu-ray disks to the format of MKV?

The popular  trend of Blu-ray discs is irresistible, and lots of movies lovers are having  Blu-ray collections more or less. At the same time, how to treasure these disks  in a safer way without scratching, or how to enjoy them via many other media  players or portable devices have become actual problems. Against this  background, numerous Blu-ray rippers are designed for backup people’s favorite  Blu-ray movies, and most of these rippers are available for directly coping without  any loss or ripping Blu-rays to some other media formats with much smaller file  size. Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper is such an application among them, which performs very well and does not have  audio and video out of sync issues.   Since a large number of BD owners are asking about how to rip Blu-ray  disks to the format of MKV, this post here will focus on this question, and  give a solution to it via the help of Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper.

Step 1: Download, install and run Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper

After launched  it, you will see the following interface at once. There are three ways provided  to import Blu-ray files, namely through clicking on “DVD Rom”, “DVD Folder”,  and “IFO/ISO”.

Step 2: Select MKV as output format, and set save  path

Once Blu-ray  files are loaded into this program, next you should click on the drop-down list  of “Format” to select MKV as the output format. Notice that there are two kinds  of MKV format, standard MKV and high definition MKV. To choose standard one,  hit “Common Video” firstly and then left-click on “MKV (Matrosca) Video”. To  choose HD MKV, click “HD Video” at first and then select “MKV HD Video”. Here I  take SD MKV for example.

Meanwhile, this  ripper enables you to join all the loaded Blu-ray files together as one file,  just tick checkbox “Merge into one file” to achieve this goal. Also, you can  click on the folder icon at the end of “Output” to specify a destination  folder, if not, this program will export the generated MKV files to a save path  set by default automatically.

Step 3: Set advanced settings

If you want to  make good control of the output MKV file size and quality, you can click on “Settings”  button to adjust video and audio parameters like codec, aspect ratio, bit rate,  frame rate, sample rate, etc. In principle, the larger input values, the better  image quality, but with enlarged output file size. On the contrary, the smaller  input figures, the more inferior image quality, but with decreased file size.  That means you should make a balance between file size and quality. If you are  not good at this procedure, just skip this step.

Step 4: Start ripping

As soon as all  the above mentioned steps are completed, what you should do next is pressing “Convert”  button. After that, an interface as below will show up. Then you need hit “Start”  button to begin Blu-ray ripping. You see, all the related ripping info are all  showing clearly, including ripping progress, elapsed ripping time, left ripping  time, generated file size and estimated file size, in that way, you can manage  your time and HD space of your computer in a proper way. After ripping work is  completed, you can press “Open” button to find out the output MKV files with  ease, and then do whatever you like at will.
