In the tech world, you can always spot a hot platform by the number of first-time entrepreneurs swarming around it, hoping to get a head start in a new market. And in the frenetic scramble around the iPhone, few newcomers are as energetic as Jonathan Zweig, founder of Los Angeles-based Jirbo, a mobile games start-up that boasts a toothy gerbil for a mascot.
Kotaku had a chance to talk with Simon Jeffery regarding the iPhone. Some of the things we learned via the webcast is that SEGA is currently working on quite some ‘exiting’ things that they will release on the iPhone. Simon Jeffery also discusses the big success that Super Monkey Ball has.
Several users have been reporting a very sluggish firmware 2.0 interface. They have noticed this exceptionally well within the txt application, scrolling and the home screen. The users have noticed this with the iPhone V1 and iPhone 3G. Hit the read more button for some vids.
Apple product head Greg Joswiak responded questions regarding the iPhone firmware 2.0. The first question that everybody wants to have answered is ‘Why isn’t there cut and paste?’ Apple has a priority list of features, and they got as far as they could down that list with this model, Joswiak answered. In other words, they don’t have anything against cut and paste. They just judged other things to be more important.
Below is a summary of the new and changed features in the iPhone and iPod Touch firmware version 2.0. Most of these are already common knowledge but i’ll list them anyway. Check the list after the break.
TeleNav announced that they will release a turn-by-tunr iPhone 3G GPS solution pretty soon. TeleNav is most known for their GPS navigation software for some other smartphones.
Personally i would never do this, as i love my iPhone. Blending a high-tech piece of equipment is according to my standards NOT cool. But Tom does prove that his BlendTec blender is a hell of a powerfull blender. If you love your iPhone 3G i wouldn’t watch this video as you might get a hearth attack.
As it’s the holiday season again i would strongly urge you to not buy a iPhone in China. The story goes, the father of a member off the forum of Macrumors is already reporting very well made cheap imitations. His father brought back 3 iPhones from China. Once the member received it he was trying to get them synced with iTunes, but iTunes didn’t recognize the iPhonies. After some testing the user opened a new thread on the forum to ask for some help.
