As a Japanese tradition during new year, retailers will offer a “Fukubukuro” or “Mystery Bag” which can include a random assortment of products sold at a steep discount. Apple will also join this tradition, selling “Mystery Bags” that can include anything from iPods till MacBooks.
On January 2 anyone can purchase a “mystery bag” from an Apple retailer for 36,000 yen, or $345. Usually it will include things like iPods, headphones, and t-shirts. Some people however, received things like iPads and even MacBooks.
This tradition is so populair that many people will line up the night before to get their hands on a bag.
