This quite unique. The much rumored Apple Tablet has not even be officially announced yet and it is already delayed. A new rumor suggests that Apple decided to change some parts of the tablet device. The OLED-screen that Apple wants to implement in their new product takes a little longer then expected. The initial release was planned in the first quarter of 2010 but has now moved to the second quarter.
The tablet device will also get two version according to the report. One version has a 10,6-inch TFT-screen and comes with a price tag of somewhere between $800 and $1000. The second version will get the OLED-screen at a size of 9,7-inches and is much more expensive at $2000. This version could eventually be cheaper due to a combination with a 3G contract.
OLED-screens are very expensive. A 9,7-inch OLED-screen costs $500 these days. The reason to bring a OLED-screen version of the tablet device on the market is probably because of the $500 million, 5 year deal Apple has with LG.
Although it seems weird to put two version of the Apple Tablet on the market with the only difference being the screen, it remains to be seen if this news is true. We’ll just have to wait for the next rumor telling us that the tablet will be launched next month (wishful thinking).
