Although reaching the 100,000 apps mark is something to celebrate, not every app has success. According to Appsfire only 20,000 apps in the App Store really have success. Around 80,000 apps don’t do well in the App Store.
Five of the 20,000 successful apps are running on more then half of all iPhones and iPod touch’s. Apps listed as number 1000 in the list of most popular apps only runs on 1,76% of all users. Still if you reach place 1000, you can still call it a successful app.
Apps in the App Store are only successful for a short period of time, according to Appsfire. It is important to create a lot of publicity while launching a new app.
