Developer Appirion has build an iPhone application together with Freie Universität Berlin, which enables you to control a car. It’s a demonstration project in which they show that the car really is controllable on a distance. The name of the car is “Spirit of Berlin”.

There are camera’s installed in the car. The camera’s are connected with the Wi-Fi of the iPhone. So in these test you need a Wi-Fi hotspot nearby. The application iDriver has buttons for the accelerator pedal, the breaks and the gear. You can steer by using the accelerometer of the iPhone. The signals are rerouted to Drive-By-Wire steering.
