Apple causes a worldwide flash memory shortage. This is due to devices like the iPhone and the iPod touch. Shortly after the introduction of the new iPods, messages about a shortage of flash memory started to appear. Back then that shortage wasn’t that bad, but the need for flash memory is still growing.
This quarter the need for flash memory exceeded with 1,3%. A growth to 3,3% is expected during the holiday season. Taiwanese manufacturers are trying to divide the need for flash memory, because manufacturers like Samsung and Toshiba are delivering Apple as priority one.
In 2010 the need for flash memory will rise with 81%. This is caused by the growth of smartphones.

Bullshit to me. Look at all those chinese sell websites that sell 1000 different usb flash drives. I dont believe there is a real shortage.
