MacWorld performed a speedtest between the iPod touch 2G and the iPod touch 3G. It appears that the 3G is almost twice as fast, according to the table they made.
Several simple test were conducted. Things like starting an application, loading a webpage, and booting the device were tested and as a result the 3G was faster in every occasion. Most people will like the boot time. The 3G boots 12 seconds faster then the previous version. Webpages are also loaded much quicker. In this case The New York Times website was loaded an amazing 19 seconds faster then the 2G iPod touch.
