Apple updated their supportpage, by adding warnings about preventing the overheating of the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. One might think that Apple finally admits the overheating of the iPhones, but that’s not the case. The supportdocument already exist at least one month. It still is the first time Apple officially makes notice of the overheating of the iPhone 3GS. Last week has been a week of many reports of people complaining about the iPhone 3GS devices becoming to hot. The overheating caused the color to fade / change, especially with the white iPhone.
Many iPhone 3GS users complained on all kinds of forums. Gizmodo and Engadget were amongst those forums. Apple had not officially admitted that there have been troubles with the iPhone 3GS. The only thing Apple has done, is saying the problems are caused by the owners themselfs. They have to take measures to prevent the iPhone becoming to hot.

Apple says that overheating of the iPhone can be caused by exposure to the sun for a long period of time. But also when using the GPS signal or listening to music in full sunlight. When the phone is left behind in the car, the temperature can increase to 45 degress Celsius. The iPhone is just not designed for that.
When the internal temperature reaches a certain limit, there can be several visual symptoms, says Apple. The iPhone can stop charging, the screenlight will be less bright and the signal can disappear. Apple also says that there’s a built-in security alert that can appear when the temperature is too high.
Apple’s advice to make sure your iPhone doesn’t reach high temperatures? Just shut down the iPhone and move to a colder environment. Jeez, thanks Apple!
