Although TomTom was the first to announce their navigation software, Navigon quickly responded and said they will have their software available before TomTom does (although it was Sygic to have the honor of being the first). As of now, Navigon is available. Be aware it’s much more expensive then Sygic and it even is a “special” price. I wonder what TomTom will have in store for us.
The app supports 10 different languages and is 1,6 GB big. So keep in mind it will take a while before it is even finished downloading. I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that is even takes longer to install. So take the time. Below are the specs and the price, which is pretty high.
Features and range of functions:
- 2D and 3D map displays
- Can be used in portrait and landscape format
- Precise voice announcements
- Intelligent address entry
- Reality View Pro (realistic display of motorway interchanges and exits)
- Lane Assistant Pro
- Real signpost display
- Speed Assistant with adjustable audio-visual warning
- Day and night mode for map display
- Direct access and navigation to contacts saved in the iPhone’s address book
- The latest NAVTEQ map material including more than two million (EU version) places of interest (POIs)
- Navigation is automatically resumed after an incoming phone call
- Quick access to user-defined POIs in the area and along the route
- Take Me Home function with a single click
- Automatic language selection to match the iPhone’s user language
The app costs $94.99 and that’s only this month. After that is goes up! Makes you wonder how expensive it will become. Hopefully TomTom will be more reasonable.
Navigon is now available in the iTunes Store

ps: i have the cut down uk version, about 200mb ;)
where you get the ipa mate??
So this is not for the US?
Please explain to me why I should pay £52 for an app that doesn’t do what my iPhone already does.
With my iPhones built in ‘maps’ I can can get faultless directions, I can get any place of interest I can think of. I can see where there are traffic jams, and I never lose GPS signal. After Reading all reviews of navigon I think Ill just stick with ‘maps’ until something more advanced comes out.
Well, you should ask why pay internet package per kb to your carrier so you can actually use your iphone Gps. With Navigon, you only have to pay once. In fact, you can even download it and download appsync and you can install it in your iphone without paying. But compare to apple gps, can do what apple gps can do 1000 times better. And that is only the first release. Wait until they fine tunes or add some more stuff like voice to text and stuff.. you’ll see….
