Update: Undiscovered Features
ericeissens
Well, after many many many attempts I finally managed to get the iPhone OS 3.0. Actually it is the iPod OS 3.0. I’m going to wait for the new iPhone to arrive and buy it. But I think I already found something in the new OS that hasn’t been discussed before. And I like this topic to be the discussion topic about the OS 3.0 and its functions.
The feature / option I found is in the App Store app. When you go to search for updates, there’s now this button called “More”. You see the tab for updates and a new tab called “Exchange” (see picture below, “Inwisselen” is Dutch for “Exchange”)

- There is no limit to the number of apps that can be installed (beside storage space). Once you reach the home screen limit, Apps installed after that are installed without an icon but can be accessed in Spotlight. You can also use this to hide any apple application (i.e. weather and stocks), if you get to 11 pages.
- In the Settings -> General -> Home Button you can now set the double click to the new search feature or the camera
- Notes now has data detectors. Links are clickable, phone numbers are callable, email address are emailable, and address are locatable (using Maps)
- When a phone call interrupts you, after the phone call you are taken back to the app you were in before you were interrupted
- You can now have 11 home screen pages instead of nine (I guess this was already known, but still a nice feature)
- Now there is a different way to force quit apps. now you have to hold the sleep/wake button until the red slider appears, then you press and hold down the home button to quit the app
I’ll update this page as more things are discovered. Maybe people with an iPhone can discover other things. If you found something you can send an email to us:Â admin@iphonefreakz.com

You can also edit which items are on the toolbar and which are under “more”. For instance, I prefer to keep Updates on the main toolbar.
Um, it’s “Redeem” in the US version… and it allows you to redeem gift cards
Can it also be used for Promo Codes from Apps?
The keyboard keys now have new accents such as:
…. § — ° ‰
These just represent a few of the new additions to the English keyboard.
Great find!
iPhone 3 bugs
1. Multimedia messaging does not support sculpture, macramé, or interpretive dance.
2. Voice memo recordings totally don’t sound like me. I don’t sound like that, do I? Seriously?
3. Turned on adult content filter but everybody in my videos still has their clothes on.
4. Adding a task to calendar did not result in task getting done.
5. Clicked this blue “compass” icon but kept getting some stupid web browser.
6. Still no apps to cure the nagging feeling that I should’ve bought a Palm Pre.
7. The touchscreen is now on the back of the phone instead of the front.
8. Gone to the bathroom four times already today, and Remote Wipe hasn’t worked once.
9. Spotlight search crashed with memory overload error trying to index my Harry Potter hentai photo collection.
10. Tried out tethering, but I think I broke my finger smacking that phone around the pole.
12. Apple still hasn’t fixed the no-hardware-keyboard bug.
13. “Cut” function does not apply to monthly AT&T bill.
HILARIOUS!
Also, Google’s Streetview now allows users to report offensive content.
Thnx for all the info
- Icon indicating outgoing calls under recent calls
- Messages “sending” bar located at the top
- email multiple photos at once
How to enable battery percentage indicator in Apple iPhone
If you are looking for the battery percentage indicator in your Apple iPhone 3G/2G running on OS 3.0, then stop looking because it’s not there! However, there is still a way to enable it. Before we start, please take a backup of your Apple iPhone. Please note that whatever we will be doing here is done at your own risk. So be careful! I am trying this test on iPhone 3G but it must work on iPhone 2G.
Basically there are two methods of enabling battery percentage indicator, but keep this in mind that you will need a jailbroken iPhone to do so.
SBSettings
SBSettings, a jailbreak application, provides you with various switches that are available in the Settings app onto iPhone’s home screen.
* Start SBSettings
* Go to the More button. You will see the settings screen of SBSettings.
* Then go to “Extra & Options” at the bottom of the screen.
* Then go to the toggle button to enable Numeric Battery.
* Reboot your iPhone to see the battery indicator in percentage.
asBattery
First you need to install asBattery developed by Andre Sendowski using Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone. Just follow the below steps to download asBattery:
* Launch Cydia.
* Go to Manage tab at the bottom.
* Then go to Sources.
* Then go to “Edit” button on the top right corner.
* Go to “Add” button to add the repository.
* Click on add to open a pop-up where you need to enter the URL of the repository. Enter http://apt.iphone-storage.de and click on the “Add Source” button. Please wait for the repository to be installed.
* Then click on the Search tab at the bottom right corner of Cydia and search for asBattery.
* Go to the “Install” button on the top right corner.
* Then click on the “Confirm” button. This will install asBattery on your jailbroken iPhone.
* Once asBattery is successfully installed, reboot your iPhone.
* You can now enable the battery percentage indicator via the Settings App (General – Usage – Battery Percentage).
