AppleInsider posted some pictures and videos about a fantastic promo stunt from Apple. It is a wall made up of twenty edge-to-edge 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays that show the 20.000 most popular apps. All apps are sorted by color and every time an app is downloaded it pulsates to show it is being downloaded.
There is a video of this beautiful display:
Each screen is powered by a Mac Pro running OS X Snow Leopard. Quartz Composer is employed to render the icons rapidly and to automate their behavior. All screens are “molded” in a black box. On this black box people can read what they are standing in front of. It says its life from the app store, but there is a five minute delay. Still this looks awsome and it sure is a peace of eyecandy. Apple seems to no how to please the eye and uses every trick up their sleeve.
