apple_logo_grayAppleiPhoneApps says they have been contacted by a source closely connected to Apple’s hardware development team. The source (whoever that may be) says he knows the details of the upcoming new iPhone and says it will be revealed on July 17th.

With the WWDC only a few weeks away, more rumors start to rise. But every rumor says something different. We thought the 3rd generation iPhone would be releaved on June 8th, when Phil Shiller delivers Apples’s keynote address. This source says something different. Makes you wonder what rumor is right. At least these specifications look believable.

  • 32GB and 16GB to replace current capacities
  • $199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera
  • Video recording & editing capabilities
  • Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
  • Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
  • OLED screen
  • 1.5X The battery life
  • Double the RAM and processing power
  • Built-in FM transmitter
  • Apple logo on the back to light up
  • Rubber-tread backing
  • Sleeker design
  • Built-in compass
  • Revolutionary combination of the camera, GPS, compass, and Google maps to identify photo and inform about photo locations.
  • Turn by turn directions
  • July 17th, 2009 release date

The best features in my oppinion are the better battery life, the compass and 3.2 Megapixel camera. It remains to be seen if these rumors are true. July 17th seems a weird date to announce the new iPhone. More logical would be to reveal it at the WWDC. If these specifications are true, then I’ll definately buy one. What do you think about these rumors?

the apple logo that will light up will really look cool :D
but these specs are not true – double processing power…not possible…
best thing for me will really be the longer battery live. I already told all my friends, if the new iphone will get just a little less battery power…i dont want it anymore.
i really hate the current battery live.

Isn’t the MMS stuff going to be blocked by AT&T? I thought that was announced a couple weeks ago, much to my dismay.

All of this sounds great, I hope it really does come true, I’d definately be down for that, especially with more horsepower. Perhaps then some background application support will be officially allowed.
