With the reach of One Billion Downloaded Apps, the App store reached a huge record.
Now new records are about to be made: 40.000 different apps are available in the store.

The downloaded apps will continueally rise and the amount of available apps will rise as well. Other comapnies have seen the immense succes of Apple’s App Store and want to do the same. Nokia for instance is about to open their store called Ovi Store, which contains over 20.000 Apps.

That sounds like a worthy opponent for Apple who started their App Store with only a few hundred apps at the start. But not all items available in the Ovi Store are games or applications. A lot of the items are wallpapers, themes, ringtones and such. Also one has to consider if all apps are compatible with all, or the most recent Nokia phones. So although Nokia wants to begin with a threatening tone, I personally don’t think Nokia is much of a competitor.
