Apple retail stores in US are selling the no-contract iPhone 3G with commitment. This seen is after rumors of AT&T selling similar no-contract iPhones. The cost of 8GB iPhone 3G is $599 and $699 for 16GB.

This scoop of news comes from AppleInsider which reports that Apple’s no-contract offer comes with lesser restrictions than AT&T’s.

Apple store are not restricting the sales to AT&T customers and a buyer can buy more than one iPhone 3G handset.
