App Review: Carambole Pool Puzzle Skype for iPhone, next week?
Mar 26

iphone3eventThe very recent iPhone OS 3.0 Media Event sneak-peak blew off every iPhone user around the world. Almost all basic requirements for a mobile phone or a handheld device were showcased. Cut-paste, MMS, Push etc which all iPhone users were missing was finally pronounced.

I was super excited to get my hands-on to the update. But Apple made it due for this summer to launch the update. Rather they announced Beta for developers and being a Registered developer I downloaded and installed the Beta 3.0 OS.

What was the out-come ?

Landscape for Mail/SMS/Notes: This was an essential feature which we have been asking from the day the original iPhone was launched.

Bluetooth A2DP: Adding A2DP was great. This works charmingly.

MMS: Again, one of the most awaited feature, necessary attribute.

Spotlight: It’s one of the major addition to OS 3.0 which is derived from Mac OS X. Makes it very easiy to launch apps or to search for contacts. This feature makes iPhone better than ever.

Cut-Copy-Paste: Needless to say, we wanted this “big time”. The interface for cut-copy-paste has been designed wonderfully. Undo can be done by shaking the iPhone and Shaking again does redo!

Push notification: It was announced way back in WWDC 2008 by Steve Jobs, but finally it arrived with 3.0 software update. As Apple explained why it took them so long for them to make it work, it’s perfectly designed for better battery life and performance.

There are “100 new features” and to review them, it’s too early. We’ll be getting to use it this summer when the official Software Update is released (hopefully).
