Kevin Rose from Digg has a respectable reputation when it comes to ruining Apple’s new-product-in-the-pipeline-secrecy with his ridiculously accurate predictions. He now has his sights set on iPhone 3.0, and says that there will is a copy-and-paste function (that the iPhone has so sorely lacked until now), but still no background apps. So let’s take a look at these two features:
Copy-and-paste
Kevin Rose predicts that the interface will be very much like the magnifying glass effect you see when you activate the text cursor function. Two fingers have to be used to select the text and from there a copy/paste sub-menu pops up. This interface sounds quite similar to Clippy from Cydia, where to activate the copy/paste menu, you hold down (with one finger) on any text.

Background apps
I really don’t know why everyone is making such a big fuss about the lack of background app processing on the iPhone. Yes, my iPhone is jailbroken, and SBSettings always tells me that I have roughly 14MB of free memory and the only apps that are running in the background are “Phone” and “Mail”. My iPhone constantly freezes up and apps crash halfway through. I honestly can’t imagine what this would be like if Apple were to allow background app processing.
So, we shall see what happens tomorrow, March 17th!

I can only keep veency running in the background and still retain system stability. No background applications is a good thing for most users.
Love the iphone but ones you get past the Youtube and nice interface stuff you will start to miss some funtions, especially if you are coming from another Smart phone/PDA. The iphone has still to make and inroads into the cooperate world.
Copy and Paste is one of many things that Apple can implement: Including the list below.
1 cannot to save an attachment in an email apart from an image.
2 no way to edit documents.
3 can’t forward an SMS to someone else.
4 What happens when you have up 100 emails, can you search your emails or sms?
5 Bluetooth SND/RCV
6 and for the cooperate business ..Security on the iphone sucks.
7 sync notes with outlook through the Itunes
8 any reason why a Task App can’t be included in the Iphone.
I don’t care about background apps. Copy & Paste is good but i really want SMS Forwarding and MMS!!
Why is it that apple is just barely making all the things, jailbroken iphones have available. I mean come on, make a jump past us and show us something new. Sure it looks like this dedicated copy/paste is going to be good but I still like the hclipboard i’ve got running on my iphone. Those of you looking for SMS forwarding, jailbreak and grab the app QuickSMS, it’s got tons of features and is tones faster than the native SMS app. There is always a way around apple’s restrictions, you just have to be willing to do the digging and look for it.
