Feb 05

openttd-128ZodTTD is up to it again. After releasing all of the popular emulators, he finished another jewel. This time he ported Transport Tycoon Deluxe to the iPhone and iPod Touch. For the people who don’t know the game, it’ s a game by the maker of Rollercoaster Tycoon, Chris Sawyer, and is similar in feel to SimCity. It has great graphics, a huge community/following, and has trains. It’s basically a SimCity clone but open source.

Here’ s what’ s new in v2.0.0 of OpenTTD:

Based on the SVN source code as recent as Feb 3rd, 2009.

* Updated for firmware 2.x.x!
* Now you can use multitouch for right clicking and scrolling.
* Full screen hardware scaling.
* Sound effects sound great.
* Network play works (server must support all OpenTTD revisions).
* Tons of bug fixes and optimizations!

Here’s some screenshots of it in action:

    Transport Tycoon doesn’t have much in common with Sim City at all!

    In TT you build transportation for wares and passangers, not areas for settlement. You connect resource harvesting companies with production companies and those with shops. You don’t manage the city at all.
