Free iPhone App Tutorials by Apps Amuck App Store – Blocked

Good News for the runners, Jason Jacobs of Fitness Keeper, the developers of RunKeeper, announced that the company is going to make the application available for free in the App Store instead of the $9.99 or 7,99€.

As noted in Jason’s email:

Although we have been featured recently in TechCrunch and NY Times (and TUAW, of course!), and we have several thousand paying customers and a vibrant community, we are making a bold move and making the app free. We are doing so in order to forgo short-term revenues with the hope that our community will get to massive scale.”

The application uses the built-in GPS of the iPhone 3G. (yes only iPhone 3G). The application uploads the data to their website and you can watch online your tracks via google maps. The application keeps track of altitude, speed and distance.

As of today 10/13/08, it’s still $9.99. Can’t wait for it to be free since I’ve been wanting to use this…

Jumped the gun on this announcement. I suspect the appstore updates are closed today, based on what I see in appshopper.com. So, I hope nobody misreads the $10 price tag on the link you provided and gets mad at you. :(
