There is problems with the installer package in itunes 8 64 bit. If you extract the file you will get about 5 programs. When you install them separately you will find that itunes64 and mobile device will get windows installer error. This IS NOT a vista problem. It is a botched package issue with apple software engineers. Think about it........one day they release a version and it results a blue screen for some and then they roll back some drivers and release another version maybe a bit too quick and ....wala.....you now have the end result of hasty programming. Call APPLE asap and bitch like hell.......also we need to bitch to ATT for a free no loss of our mins when calling apple for this sort of problem.............I spent 60 mins of my 450 talking to 2 tech and still got nowhere.

Well Apple isn't very supportive of windows users. Look how long it took them to support iTunes for Vista. I understand why, but if they really cared about there customers (instead of their profits) they would treat them equal. But look at microsoft they dont support Mac OS at all (or do they?). I know their DRM doesnt.

I have used Vista for two years and I have never had the BSOD on my desktop, but now I remember getting it on my laptop but I think it was because it overheated (not software releated)

Do you mean you cannot INSTALL 8? Cause you said you can't dl it, then you say you get a install error. Have you tried running sfc.exe \scannow in the command prompt? That's windows built in SystemFileScan if you didnt know ;) I always run that when I run into problems, and sometimes it does fix the problem.

I thought vista got rid of the blue screen of death on vista. Any way I don't get why so many programs are having such a hard time on vista.

I have never had the BSOD since going from XP to Vista. So I have no problems with 32bit or 64bit windows iTunes 8. So these must be isolated cases
