Best Buy, come September 7, will be the only third-party retailer to ever sell the iPhone. This is big news for those who have not yet been able to buy an iPhone 3G due to low stock. It will be launched in about 970 stores and about 18 dedicated Mobile locations. More information inside.

Best Buy’s Mobile CEO says:

“We had a lot of work to do, obviously, to get in a position where Apple and AT&TÂ would feel good about Best Buy Mobile carrying it, and that’s what we’ve done in the last 18 months.”

So apparently, Best Buy has been pretty persistent in their efforts to eventually carry the iPhone in their stores, even since the release on the first generation iPhone in July of last year. Seems like all of those efforts are now paying off.

The prices of the iPhone 3G will remain the same while being sold in Best Buy. $199 for the 8GB model, and $299 for the 16 GB model. Buyers will also still be forced to sign a 2 year contract with AT&T.

I don’t like it how you documented the word force. Because AT&T makes me disgusted with their service and support..
