Firmware 2.1 beta already showed us some very nice upcoming features like improved GPS functions, (turn-by-turn gps), a presumably copy&paste function and now they found a new reference string that points to a new iPod. The reference is ‘iPod2,1′.

This isn’t a big coincidence, Apple usually released new iPod’s during the months of August and September. Another interesting rumor is that new iPod Nano’s will be released pretty soon. What strikes me here is that the New iPod Nano is no longer going to have a clickwheel but it’s going to have much resembling with the Microsoft Zune (which i don’t expect to be a good thing). The screen will have the same rectangle dimensions as a Zune. To watch movies will have to turn the device into landscape. New colors are to be expected too. We will soon find out more.
