iPhone dev-team reacts to GEOHOT yiphone.org iPhone dev-team update
Jul 13

Zibri who we all learned to love and hate has put a message on his ziphone blog. It’s clear that the war between GeoHot, iPhone Dev-Team and Zibri have begon. Will Zibr stop? I will let you read the blog post for yourself so you can be the judge.

Talks, lies, haters, fans.
I’m sick of this!
This is not a war and not even a game.
I originally developed ZiPhone for my own use.
Then people asked me to release it and I did.
I bought my first iPhone in Semptember 2007.
I released ZiPhone in February 2008.
I know you people are crazy about the iPhone
but believe me, I am not.
I think the 3g iPhone is not worth even buying
for people who already have the
first generation iPhone.
GPS ? I have a TomTom Go device.
3G data ? I have a 7.2 Mb/s card
in my laptop.
Apps ?
I have my iPhone.
Everything else ?
I have my life !
IF and WHEN there will be a new
ZiPhone you will be informed.
Stop asking, hating, begging.
By the way,
maybe you don’t know the difference,
but ZiPhone was a real hack.
Software upgrades or custom firmwares
are a totally different thing.
A nice proof of concept, a nice work, but
that’s not hacking..
But if that will ever be released
and that suits your needs,
use it. You’ll be (hopefully) happy.
Another note:
I’m being reported of many people
faking me on many blogs and sites.
Check the profile (if there’s one).
And don’t take as gold any word from me that
you don’t read here !
To any hacker out there:
FACTS speaks louder than words.
Peace out,
Zibri

I just don’t understand why people dislike him so much. He made a good piece of software that worked quite well for me, I didn’t get keep my phone jailbreaked for long, but the time it was, it worked.

A very nice try to defend himself; nonetheless, he’s still a loser. And how exactly is ZiPhone a real hack? The only thing it does is take advantage of an exploit that was already present on the phone. It doesn’t create an exploit or anything. It does the same as everything else. It’s stupid and dangerous.

            curious…but how is it dangerous?

It does all of it’s work in the first reboot. The first reboot can only handle a small amount of memory. If it overloads, it could lead to memory corruption. Other solutions use two reboots to prevent this.

I don’t think he’s stupid. I too use Ziphone and haven’t had ANY issues. Just use what works for you and be thankful to the developers. Heck, I bought the iphone because of them. The iphone sucks w/o ‘em – to me.

I’ve unlocked so many iPhones with ziphone, haven’t had 1 problem with it. How can something that works so well and easily be dangerous? I’ll be the first to complain when nethin goes wrong until then I don’t see how anyone can bad mouth it. Ziphone offered a 1 click problem solver of unlocking our iPhones something most of us should appreciate. Shouldn’t we all unite n defeat the selfish money grabbing beast that is apple? Isn’t that wat all of us here are trying to accomplish?

The only selfish money-grabbing beast I see is Zibri.
Yes, ZiPhone works most of the time, but the one time it doesn’t work has the potential to brick your phone. Especially when unlocking, because it uses an unorthodox method of downgrading the bootloader to stock 3.9.

excuse me? An iPhone with a contract wouldve cost me over 1000. the downloded software ziphone was free. How in any way is ziphone money grabbing? I’ve never had any of the iPhones I unlocked bricked. It takes 1 click, how does neone have a problem with that? Downgrading the bootloader didn’t give me any problems either. Ziphone is in 1 word is perfect. Do wat it takes to achieve that even if u have to downgrade the bootloader.

ok I’d like to see this magical software of yours. And how exactly is it ‘wayyy’ better? Does it sing and dance for u as well? :S

Well… I have to say… ZiPhone is the least that released a very friendly GUI environment… and One-Touch solve it all… even with memory leaks… before i used wnpwn and iLiberty+… its kinda complicated if you’re not really familiar with its concept… Ziphone makes it understand the user the real interface of its software… Problem with Ziphone? to me… none… Wnpwn? iLiberty? I remember putting my ipod touch to recovery mode… and while the too slow things done by wnpwn and iliberty… i got bored… I left it for 2~3 hrs while I make myself get out of boredom… ipod = battery dead… so yeah… go stick to your wnpwn… wnpwn = slow… yeah it has some thing of its own… anyway, I like Zibri’s ZiPhone… the first jailbreak i used on my 1.1.4… (i used a different one on 1.1.2) ^___^….

Boy you must have done something wrong then… :?: No way does it take 2-3 hours….that must have been because you phone was already melted from using ziphone previously.

your theory doesn’t make sense. He must have used ziphone last to unlock his iPhone 1.1.4. Unless he uses 1.1.4 and then decided to downgrade firmware and then unlock 1.1.2 using another unlocking software which doesn’t seem likely. No way ziphone couldve ‘melted’ it. Stop blaming everything on ziphone.

As I like to experiment with my iPhone, I used all 3 techniques (Ziphone, iLibery and winpwn) to unlock+jailbraik+activate… and they ALL worked fine every time :)) Thanks to all people who are developing these programmes, beacuse without them iPhone would really be very boring (at least before this new appstore thing)

Never once had a problem with Ziphone, without it my phone would have been null and void, i tried wnpwn didn’t work somehow it froze my phone, iliberty was great for kicking it out of DFU mode etc, but ziphone did the rest for me.
For those who say it fries your phone: I have phone insurance it costs me next to nothing and if for some strange reason my phone gets ‘bricked’ i will claim and get a new one.
Zibri said he first developed it for his own use, then along come us not so brainy people and begged him to help, so he did, millions have used it, most have worked, if it didn’t work for you then thats life you wanted your phone sorted the cheap and easy way and you and only you tried Ziphone, no one forced you.
As phonemaster said “Stop blaming everything on Ziphone”
