I noticed the difference in screens when i posted the iPhone vs iPhone 3G pictures a few days ago. It seems that i was not the only one, a lot of people have been complaining about the yellow iPhone 3G screen. Apple responded officially to this and what they have to say is:
Apple’s senior director of iPhone product marketing, Bob Borchers, announced that there’s no defect of bug in the new iPhone 3G screens. The changes have been made on purpose. Apple says that the new screen is ‘warmer’ compared to the iPhone’s ‘cold bleu’ screen. The color range of the new iPhone 3G is between 6800 and 7300 Kelvin, while the first gen iPhone had around 8300K.
According to Borchers the old iPhone screen had a too harsh fluorescerent effect. “We moved the white point in order to make [the display feel] more naturalâ€, says Borchers. Borchers also said that it’s possible that a future firmware update may have a option to set the color temp. But for now it’s not on the roadmap. What do you guys think? Prefer the old screen or the new?

I indeed have a yellow screen too, and whenever I put it next to my ipod touch, the differences are so obvious. It’s awfull because the white gets a real nasty ‘urine’ tint.
It would be nice if we could configure this just like in our monitors.
But I prefer the warmer colors… hehe
liar! juzt do a full restore or ur 3g, this will make it download the last frinware avaliable not the “2.0″ that came with ur device, this changes the color calibration to a clean white :)
