AgileMessenger is a new native iPhone chat application from AgileMobile that is just fantastic. AgileMessenger supports nearly any chat application like ICQ, MSN, AOL, Yahoo!, Jabber and GoogleTalk). The list of functions is almost limitless.
-Changing your status (online, offline, busy, custom away msg, ..)
-Copy and paste txt parts
-Add/edit contacts/groups
-Renaming and moving contacts to different groups
-See your total traffic that you exchanged during conversations
-Saving your history for later reading
-Use emoticons
-Use a vibration as a notification when you receive a msg
-Display contacts even when they are offline
-Share pictures you take with your iPhone camera !
-The application stays active even when you run other apps
And so on and on and on..
1) Locate and install the application
2) Working with the application is really easy. Once you start the app you can chose what client you like to enable. After that press the connect button and you wil have the option to give your username and password (it will save it, no need to reenter it everytime).
Once you press the connect button the app will load all your contacts.
The menu screen let’s you set your status, add contacts, add groups, edit log-in options, check the traffic counter an set your preferences.
Initiating a chat is as easy by pressing the contact you like to talk to, a new popup will open on screen and it will give you the options to send a msg, get the contact info, move to group and rename or delete the contact. In a chat you can even use emoticons and send pictures you take with your camera.
AgileMobile let’s you open as much chat windows as you like, to move between them just swipe or tap on the top menu bar and that conversation window will open. When you receive a msg in addition to a vibration or a sound alert the contact that sent you the msg will be in red!
One thing to remember ! When you press your home button, the application will keep running. If you like to quit, go to menu and then select exit !

This message app is amazing and blows mobile chat away! but i have one problem, the test input box is just black instead of how it is in the screenshot you have, any fixes?
You need to download sms.app from somewhere and SSH into your ipod and put it there. Because this app was mainly for iPhone, they already have sms.app.

How do you think it stacks up agaisnt fring? Why is it that most IM apps cannot add skype accounts?
i decided to go ahead and hack my phone just to put this on it. I LOVE IT! A few updates needed:
•Abilitly to send/recieve emoticons
•Different icon
•Sending a message seems to be a bit slow

Hey, great app, but is anyone else having the problem that after you recieve a message, your normal iPhone sounds are all muffled? Like, the key taps for example. Playing an iPod song fixes it till next message, but it’s pretty annoying =P
same thing happened to me, so i replaced the NewMessage.wav in Agile with my own clip (took it from windows live messager) now everythings fine :)
i’ll say the application is much better than fring app. more features…but it crashes once in a while…other wise its cool :D :wink:

:cry: installed it on my ipod touch and everything works great, the only bad thing is the text box where you type your message is black making it really hard to know what you wrote. any fixes out there? or do i have to wait for update

Ok guys I had this problem a while back. Search on google there is a way. Since iPod touch has no SMS, this app uses the image from SMS. If you look online, you can find the images to put in a MobileSMS folder you make. Email me at melikbilge@gmail.com and I’ll help you. This is for the black typing box glitch.

Great app….very smooth interface and works great on edge as well. Actually I am sure apple will have their own very soon! As far as the patent shows they are already designing chat functions as well as other things.
I like this better than fring but fring still has VOIP and can log onto skype…
if apple or anyone else will have a msg app (1.2v) you will need to pay for the mobile.me account (100$/year i believe)

To the guy who changed the newmessage.wav to the windows live messenger sound, ive gone into program files, took the windows live sound (wma) and just renamed it to .wav, SSH’d into my iphone and swapped them over (obviously renaming the windows live file). However, insted of getting the new sound in the app, i get nothing. Ive restarted etc etc, just cant get it to work. Do I need to fully convert the file insted of just renaming the extension?
it’s seams that with the muffed sound comes and a crash of the gsm. no calls can be recived or made. but with a ipod play/stop can be fixed :|

Fixed my problem, you have to fully convert whichever file you want to use to .wav, not just rename the extension. Found an easy to use free converter using a quick google search.
is anyone else getting a rate limit has been exceeded message when trying to log into AOL IM?

Does you MSN account end with .co.uk as I have the exact same issue, so I created an MSN account that ends with .com and it works fine. I have email there tech support and they are looking into it as to whether if there is a .co.uk issue

i think for not fring is better.. after a call fring will reconnect so far with agilemessanger it does not reconnect
anyone having problems logging onto aol? mine says all connections failed. i tried installing and uninstalling as well as restarting my phone, but nothing has worked

This is how you change your Nick to an agile and some other mobile messengers:
Go to your PC. Log on using your old windows messenger at XP, or use web messeger (webmessenger.msn.com) and change your user name there.
(Agile gets your nick there at the server.)
Changing your nickname will not work on any newer live messenger or vista messenger, because it saves your nick differently (or to a different place at server?).
