The guys from Fring just dropped me some news.
They have updated Fring to version 0.9785 and it resolves the famous SMS deletion problem.

The new version includes the following fixes:
1. Issues resulting in deleted SMS (additional QA work on our side still in progress)
2. mVoIP calls on 1.1.2 are now fully supported.
3. Incoming SIP calls are also available with this new version
Important: to update to the new fring version DO NOT uninstall current version (well you can, but then you will need to retype your fring login information) Simply go to the ‘installer’ and get the updated fring version from the ‘updates’ section.

seems not to work… Always getting a “Package download failed” Error.
Paul, try refreshing your sources again and try the update again. This usually helps when I get the error.
its not in my update ?
it wasn’t in my updates either, so i uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall…
but still getting the same error after refreshing the sources.
I’ve looked around and it appears that the source is no longer correct.
Please add http://www.fring.com/iphone.xml
i’m using that source… still getting that error :(
solved the problem by jailbreaking the iphone again and installing fring with the old installer.app
worked like a charm :)
