hey Multinova,

this worked great, thanks for the guide. I used this to try to change the email notification sound. The default one is too quiet and easy to miss. I downloaded a better one (louder and goes for more than a split second) and converted it to a caf file, and it plays in quicktime. I renamed the new-mail.caf file located at System\Library\Audio\UISounds\, and copied the one I downloaded to the iphone. Then I rebooted.

It’s still doing the old notification tone. I moved the old caf file to my PC so it wouldn’t find it anymore, and rebooted again. Same thing.

Any ideas? i’m on a jailbroken 3G running 3.0.1.

I know, do u have a bittorrent client like utorrent, if so u can find a lot of good stuff like cracks, serials, programs, & anything else u could possibly want on websites committed to torrents like isohunt.com & it’s all totally free just be careful in what torrents u choose.

my iphone is jailbroken…
i tried according to ur method mentioned above…but m not able to browse alll files exept wallpapers n themes n one or two more…n when i try to copy them i get errors…u can c at

Damn, I can’t upload anything. I can only read. Ah well, hehe. I don’t have a jailbreaked phone. I am still reluctant to jailbreak it as I want to support the legit apps. Ah well =/.

Just use DISKAID works great and you dont have to deal with any of this crap

Thanks for GREAT guide, it’s very appreciated :-). Maybe one little note: I suggest restyle your step 10:

10) After the installation, go to the [-\-] directory in Total commander and click on the iPhone icon.

Saying go to ‘Network Neighbourhood’ (or whatever it is) might help prevent confusion, as goint into root only will show ‘Apple iphone’ icon, but in my case, this only leads to camera folder. When accessing via ‘Network Neighbourhood’ I properly see and can traverse all folders on iphone FS. Keep up the good job! :)

There exists a much better, simpler and easier way to make your IPhone a USB cable connected diskonkey. This is without interfering with the device’s disk, partitions etc. Write to me, I’ll explain how.
